Prof. Dr. Shashi Kumary Adhikary is working since 33 years teaching at Nepal Law Campus, Faculty of Law Tribhuvan University of Nepal. Former Asst. Dean of Faculty of Law, T.U. and Senior Advocate, law practicing in Supreme Court of Nepal. As women’s right activist she has involved on advocacy for amendment of the discriminatory provision on the basis of gender equality and advocacy to the Government for equity and protection and promotion of basic human rights of women to bring their attention on women's human rights issues. She has involved for advocacy/campaigns for gender equity within the national laws and policies. Her endeavor women's access to justice for promoting women's rights in a broad range such as right to education, right to property, right to employment, right to participation in decision making level, right to identity of women.
She has participated and presented a paper in different international program, She has present a paper on women’s and children’s rights in Nepalese context, Women and Children: The Human Rights Relationship, A Regional Conference Held in Bangkok, Thailand from Dec 9-10, 2007 organized by UNICEF / Wellesley Centers For Women, present the paper on “the status of women’s rights in Nepal”, Universal Periodic Report Review Pre-session, Geneva Oct. 2015, present a paper on “right to identity of Nepalese women” Parallel Event of UN CSW60 Organized by UN, Women, UN House, 14-24 March 2016, Sharing the experiences of women’s human rights in the context of Nepal, "Strengthening the Cooperation and Security of Human Rights Defenders" from 27th September to 2nd October 2015 at the Helsinki, City Hall, Finland, Organized by KIOS, The Finish NGO Foundation for Human Rights. She has shared the experiences of Nepal on Pro Bono services of Nepal on" Pro-Bono Conference, organized by BAPSCAL, Hong Kong, October 2018.
She is also the founding member of leading women organizations such as Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) Nepal, and founding president of Centre for Women’s Awareness and Development (CWAD) and former chair of legal aid and consultancy Centre (LACC) She served as the member of the policy drafting committee of Truth and Reconciliation Committee on ‘gender and legal’ team 2015. She has received various international and national awards such as, N- Peace Award, Role Model For Peace for demonstrated leadership and commitment towards building peace, 2013 Awarded by United Nations Development Program, she has received Asia -Pacific Regional Centre, Leadership for Excellence Award, 2014, JCI, Kathmandu, Lady, and Millennium Milestone maker award, 2015 awarded by Global Interactions World Academy for the Future of Women, Korea.
